Nikola Tesla and Hugo Gernsback - Cooperation between the two great creators and visionaries
One of rare Tesla's contemporaries, who understood the great inventor, was fascinated by him, and considered his ideas and his comprehensive efforts as the deliverance of the whole mankind, was Hugo Gernsback (1884-1967). An inventor himself, a pioneer of amateur radio in the US, famous publisher of numerous popular science magazines, the "father of science fiction", he was someone who was, like Tesla, known as "the man who invented the future". Based on mutual trust and respect, these two exceptional men had a fruitful cooperation between 1915 and 1919. From this period originates a great number of notable articles about Tesla's most significant scientific achievements. The peak of this cooperation was the publication of the work that represents the most reliable testimony about many important, often crucial details from the life and work of one of the greatest ingenious and scientific minds in the whole history of mankind. This work shall later be translated into many languages, published and quoted more than any other work on Nikola Tesla - and he wrote it himself and gave it an unusual, but, at the same time, very simple title - My Inventions. The famous Tesla's autobiography has been published in six installments in 1919, in the renowned and, for that time, widely circulated Electrical Experimenter magazine, the founder and editor-in-chief of which was Hugo Gernsback.
Nikola Tesla Diplomas
The exhibition dedicated to all diplomas presented to the great inventor on various occasions during his long and exceptionally fruitful life. Not only is it richly illustrated with decoratively written documents honoring Tesla, recognizing his contribution to science, presenting decorations, confirming scientific titles, or promoting him into the membership of scientific or other societies, this exhibition also contains remarkable excerpts from the correspondence between Nikola Tesla and the representatives of individual institutions bestowing these honors upon him. These letters shed a light on the reasons behind these recognitions, but some also show what these honors meant to Tesla himself. They are signs of the times and circumstance the great inventor lived and worked in, but also reflections of his efforts among his contemporaries.
